Engage the Gorge took shape over the early months of 2019. A grassroots group, made up of people who have had similar experiences engaging government agencies and officials. When raising questions or concerns over prospective policies, we’d be met with, “This topic has been in discussion for three years, why are you just now inquiring? Where have you been through this entire process?”

Our collective answer to those questions is: We’ve been here, at home. Working, raising our families and caring for elderly parents. Signing up for Meal-Trains and supporting those we know and don’t know in this community. We’ve been volunteering- raising money for local PTOs and other non-profit organizations, and helping in our children’s classrooms. We’ve been right here- Actively investing our time, energy, and (other) resources into the community we so dearly love. We’ve been engaged. We are engaged.

Engage the Gorge is the collective understanding that an individual citizen may not have concerns treated seriously, but that concerns shared by a group of citizens will.

Our mission is to encourage transparency in local government and help citizens engage their local leaders with complete information; improving confidence in government, and helping decision-makers govern more effectively.

Please join us by exploring issues that are important to you, your family, and your neighbors.  Share your knowledge, experience, and concerns.  An informed and engaged citizenry is an important part of a thriving community.
