A rural fire district is an organization established to provide fire protection to a designated geographic area outside of areas under municipal fire protection. Usually has some taxing authority and officials may be appointed or elected. A rural water district is a local government institution that supplies water to homes and farms in rural areas.


Mission: Protect the health of all Hood River County residents by preventing disease, injury, premature death, and disability; promoting healthy lifestyles, behaviors and environment; and responding to disasters, disease outbreaks and epidemics through organized community efforts.
