In its January 11th meeting, the Hood River City Council stepped back after two years of staff work & council oversight from continuing with plans for a city police station to replace the basement location. They've decided to go back to the drawing board.

Next steps? A consultant will "facilitate" work between a subcommittee of city councilors, county commissioners Karen Joplin, Arthur Babitz, and Sheriff Matt English, plus a variety of community partners (let's hope those are open meetings for the public).

The outcome of that work will be a vision for a joint facility, which will go out for a separate cost analysis, so that the two governmental groups can determine whether to proceed and seek construction bond funding from taxpayers. Price tag? TBA ...but could be in the neighborhood of $50 to $60 million. Courthouse included.
